After School Program

The After School Program at the JCC provides after-school care for children in Kindergarten through 7th grades.  The objectives of this program are:

• provision of a nurturing and constructive environment for everyone
• provision of quality care and comprehensive services for all families
• enhancing the socialization aspect of youth development
• academic and study skill assistance for all children

The After School Program begins when your child is dismissed from school and continues until 6:30pm at the latest (6:00pm on Fridays).  Your children are transported to the JCC where they will be served a snack and participate in free play until 4:00pm.  Kindergartners are separated into their own classroom with nurturing and mature staff (A change of clothing is required for all Kindergartner and First graders in a clearly labeled plastic bag).  Children are then separated by grade in quiet classrooms to ensure adequate assistance with their homework.  After homework is completed at 5:00pm, children have the option to engage in a range of activities such as: structured sports, outdoor play, art projects and more.  Fridays are special days where children are able to relax and watch a movie with a popcorn treat.  If a child does not want to participate in the movie, he or she has the privilege to engage with our multi-player gaming systems.

Registration Information for the After School Program

♥ If you need to change the number of days your child attends day care, or if you need to withdraw your child from the program, you must notify the Youth and Teen Department in writing prior to adjusting your schedule.

♥ In accordance with the NYS law, parents must complete, sign and return the following documents within the first week of the After School Program: 

-Registration, Updated Medical, Transportation, and Emergency Card Photo ID

♥ All attempts will be made to service our members.  **In the event that we can no longer provide services to your child(ren), the Rosenthal JCC reserves the right to revoke membership at anytime.

Pick Up & Sign Out Policy

All children must be picked up at the Rosenthal JCC no later than 6:30pm (6:00pm on Fridays).  Continual lateness will result in a penalty surcharge of $10 for every 15 minutes per child that you are late.  Families should phone the Youth & Teen Department about a late pick-up.

For your child's safety, please follow the daily sign out procedures:

• You must sign out your child with your initials and exact time of pick up.
• You are expected to exit ONLY through the main lobby doors.  Please do not exit through the field, playground, or any side or rear doors.
• Children will only be dismissed to adults listed on the transportation agreement.  If someone other than the listed adults will be picking up your child, we require prior written notification.  We require photo identification at the time of pick up of any individual picking up your child(ren).

Absentee Policy

In the event that your child will not be attending the JCC After School Program on a scheduled day for any reason, you MUST contact the Youth & Teen Department.  Monthly rates are not reduced due to absenteeism, early pick up or school holidays.  (Please note that your child's school also requires a phone call and a written note to verify the child's absence).
