The week is going awfully fast! This morning, our Rosenthal JCC athletes at the JCC Maccabi Games spent time at a local assisted living facility, where they visited with the residents and got to know a little about their stories. Some of the athletes came prepared to sing a few songs, and the residents were so appreciative and happy for the company. Tikkun Olam is an important component of the JCC Maccabi experience. Hopefully our athletes felt the large impact of the small contribution they made today and will carry that with them when they return home.

Unfortunately, our boys basketball team was unable to beat the "home" team - Rockland Blue - in the quater final, though they fought hard and showed great sportsmanship.

Ben participated in a 9-hole scramble with two golfers from Mid-Westchester and won a silver medal. That's two for Ben!

After each game, Coach Ken asks the athletes to say something positive about the game they just played. Everyone has something good to say, and our players have really come together as a team. It's so true that the Maccabi Games are about so much more than just the sports! Our guys are happy and having a great time.

Tonight was host family night, and we've had some serious thunderstorms. Tomorrow will be more golf for Ben and a chance for the rest of the boys to sleep a little late and be spectators at various medal rounds. Then off to the Closing Party at Rockland Community College.
Next year.... Orange County, CA or Austin, TX? How do you vote?
