As we witness the devestation wrought by Hurricane Sandy, we can give thanks for our blessings and begin to help others who lost much more than just power. This week, the Rosenthal JCC will serve as a collection site for donations to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy through UJA-Federation of New York's Hurricane Relief Collection and DriveRebuild Staten Island, the shelter at the Rockaways. Please drop off any donations in the main lobby. You might even choose to take this time to discuss the idea of giving to the less fortunate with your children, or have them donate some of their own items.

Requested items include:

  • ** Mops and Brooms
  • ** Cleaning Supplies
  • ** Flashlights and batteries
  • Gift Cards to Home Depot
  • Blankets
  • Diapers, Wipes and Baby Formula
  • Non-Perishable Food Items
  • Toiletries (shampoo, soap, combs, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products)
  • Household Goods (pots, utensils, etc.)
  • Warm Clothing (children and adult)
  • Boots and New Socks
  • Jackets, Gloves and Hats
  • Checks made out to UJA-Federation of New York with Hurricane Relief in the description line
Beginning next week, we will continue our November Mitzvah of the Month collection of food for Thanksgiving for local food pantries.
