Support for Parents

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

If you or a family memeber or friend is struggling to find resources or assistance in times of crisis or transition, the RJCC can help. Our Family Resource Center provides assistance in understanding and navigating local service systems, including special education, mental health, illness, family support and more. We provide both resources and referrals, as well as personal consultation as needed.

PARENTS 4 PARENTS (Takes place at the Main Branch in Pleasantville)

Parents 4 Parents is a support network for parents of children with special needs who have been through have been through the emtions of receiving a diagnosis for their children, navigating the evaluation process and educational programs (EI, CPSE, CSE) and living with the day-to-day challenges of raining and caring for their children. Throughout the year, we will host seminars on timely topics presented by knowledgeable speakers in the special needs community and provide intimate forums where parents can speak freely and emotionally without judgement or fear. Meetings take place (generally) the third Thursday of each month at 9:30 am as follows for the 2012-2013 school year:

• Oct. 18  Nov. 15 • Jan. 17 • Feb. 21  March 14 • April 18  May 16

PARENT SUPPORT NETWORK (Takes place at the Yorktown Branch)

 

Parents of children with special needs, would you like to meet with other parents to share information, find support and build friendships in a non-judgmental, confidential environment – in a location that’s close to home? Join the Rosenthal JCC and the Yorktown SEPTA for monthly meetings. Meetings take place (generally) the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm as follows for the 2012-2013 school year:

• Oct. 18  Nov. 15 • Jan. 17 • Feb. 21  March 21 • April 18  May 16
