JCC Pre-SchoolThe Rosenthal JCC Early Childhood Center provides a tender transition from home to school in a nurturing and stimulating environment. We help children develop the necessary social skills for school, and provide the activities and individual attention that encourage each child’s uniqueness. Our child-centered, experientially based program is geared toward developing children’s independence. We focus on developing the whole child – mind and body.
Growth and Learning We help children learn through exploration of the world around them. Every day, children are inspired through music, art, movement, stories and educational materials. Multi-sensory activities engage all of the children’s senses and encourage development on an individual level. Our programs are crafted to channel children’s imaginations and natural curiosity. For instance, children:
- Build skills through our creative centers (dramatic play, arts and crafts, blocks, literacy, sand, water and manipulatives)
- Discover science, nature and geography through diverse and creative hands-on projects
- Enhance their social and verbal abilities, and make friends
- Cultivate a love for books and literature
- Develop their independence by making choices about the activities in which they wish to engage
Flexible Scheduling Now, we offer even more options than ever! You can choose from mornings-only, afternoons-only, or mornings plus afternoon options for our core curriculum programs. You may choose to add on a daily Lunch Bunch. For parents of threes and fours, you may also opt to add on a daily Activity Class. Plus, early drop-off and late pick-up options are available.
Our Activity Classes offer in-depth investigations of various topics, which change throughout the year, to allow your child to experience an extended day of pre-school, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Past Activity topics have included Cooking, Gardening, Arts and Crafts, and Mother Goose. Extended hours available from 7:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m.
Beyond Preschool is Back by popular demand! This innovative program has been specially designed for older four year olds who are ready for a more challenging academic curriculum and younger five year olds (age-eligble for kindergarten) who could benefit from another year of preschool. In this class, we balance a creative, responsive and emergent curriculum using multi-sensory activities to teach beginning reading and writing, math concepts, Spanish language and science. Emphasis is placed on relationship building and positive social interactions through play. Our curriculum will bring out the “gifted” in your child.
Highly Trained Staff Teachers are experienced and professional, supervised by an Early Childhood Director, and trained to create a caring and nurturing environment. All staff participate in ongoing professional development to ensure the very highest quality of education. In addition, we regularly bring in specialists, as well as community guests, to enhance our classroom experience.
Child-Centered Facility We are conveniently located on Route 202, less than 1/2 mile from the Taconic Parkway. We offer spacious, bright and fully equipped classrooms. Our creative fenced-in outdoor playground is equipped with riding toys, jungle gym and large sand areas.
Going Beyond We take particular pride in our support services for families with young children who are at risk for speech, learning or gross/fine motor weakness. We provide confidential referrals and comprehensive guidance for parents. Our staff is equally attuned to recognizing and developing children who exhibit special interests, strengths and abilities.
Jewish Values The JCC embraces children of all faiths, and we teach Jewish values such as charity, kindness and repairing the world. Through the joyous celebration of Shabbat and Jewish holidays with music, crafts and cooking, our children begin to learn the beauty, joy and dignity of the Jewish heritage. We proudly celebrate Jewish culture in a fun and inclusive way.
