JCC Pre-School

The Rosenthal JCC Pre-School provides a tender transition from home to school in a nurturing and stimulating early childhood environment.  Our child-centered, experiential learning program is designed to promote a love of learning while developing children's social skills and fostering their independence. Children leave our program fully prepared for Kindergarten.  We focus on growing the whole child - mind and body.

Growth and Learning

We help children learn through exploration of the world around them. Every day, children are inspired to learn through music, art, movement, stories and educational resources and materials. Multi-sensory activities engage all the children's senses and encourage development on an individual level. Our programs are crafted to channel children's imagination and natural curiosity. For instance, children in our programs will:

  • Build skills through our creative centers (dramatic play, arts and crafts, blocks, literacy, sand, water and manipulatives)
  • Discover science, nature and geography through diverse and creative hands-on projects
  • Enhance social and verbal abilities and make friends
  • Cultivate a love for books and literature
  • Develop their independence by making choices about the activities in which they wish to engage

In addition, we offer many options to extend the day or add on days.  Our seasonal Activity classes offer in-depth investigations into diverse topics that allow your child to experience an exteded day of pre-school until 2:00 p.m. Past activity classes have included The Age of Dinosaurs, In the Garden, and Jungle Beat.  Children 3-5 can stay as late as 4:00 p.m. by enrolling in our afternoon class.

Highly Trained Staff

Our teachers are experienced and professional and provide a caring and nurturing environment for your child. Our Branch Director has more than 30 years experience working with children and youth. In addition, we regularly bring in specialists for yoga, movement, and Jewish culture as well as community guests to enhance our classroom experience.

Jewish Values

We incorporate Jewish cultural activities, including Shabbat and holiday celebrations, into our curriculum to encourage familiarity with customs and traditions. We also infuse core Jewish values - such as respect for individuals and mitzvot (good deeds) - into our programs every day.

Going Beyond

We take particular pride in our support services for families with young children who are at risk for speech, learning, gross or fine motor weaknesses. We provide confidential referrals and comprehensive guidance for parents navigating through the maze of assessments, forms, committee meetings and therapist appointments. We welcome therapists into our classrooms to support children's learning.  Our staff is equally attuned to recognizing and developing children who exhibit special interests, strengths, and abilities.

Child-Centered Facilities

The Rosenthal JCC is conveniently located on Route 202 in Cortlandt Manor.  We have spacious, bright, fully-equipped and air-conditioned classrooms. The creative, fenced-in outdoor playground is equipped with riding toys, jungle gym, grassy area, and a large sand area.
